DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE RESIDENCE
RUE DE LA COMETE, 75007 PARIS

The Area:
The 7th
arrondissement is on the left bank and is commonly referred to as the "elegant Embassies’ quarter". It is a very safe and attractive area. The closest Metro station is Latour-Maubourg, on line 8, direction Balard-Creteil. The RER station is Invalides and goes straight to Versailles in 25 minutes!

Rue de la Comete is 2 blocks south of the Seine, perpendicular from two main streets: Rue St Dominique and Rue de Grennelle. Both those streets are full of restaurants, groceries, bakeries, delis, banks, cafes, butchers and fashionable shops. The renowned Rue Cler Open Air Market (3 times a week) is located three blocks away. All the major sights are either in walking distance: American University and Cultural Center 3 min, Eiffel Tower 7 min, Champs Elysees 10 min, Rodin Museum 5 min, Orsay Museum 10 min, Napoleon’s Tomb and Army Museum 3 min.; Or a few subway stations away: the Louvre Museum, Place de la Concorde, Latin Quarter, Luxembourg Gardens, Notre Dame, Montmatre and Sacre Coeur…

The Building:
Fairly new for Paris, the 40-year-old building has only six floors and is well maintained. It features a coded front door, a buzzer, a security door, stairs and an elevator. Don’t be surprised, the elevator is small! The "gardienne", Mrs. Odette Fernandes, lives in the courtyard on the left side of the building entry.

The Residence:
My residence is on the 5th
floor, the door is on the right, and has a security door. The whole apartment features "luxuries for Paris": hardwood floors throughout, lots of light and little noise!

The residence has two bedrooms. The main one has a queen size bed, night tables, a big closet, and a large window. Note that all windows have wood shutters making it wonderfully dark to sleep-in! Both bedrooms face away from the street into a courtyard and are quiet. The second bedroom twin daybed with a trundle, a nightstand, a desk and a large window.

The bathroom has been recently renovated, and consists of a bathtub (with handheld shower sprayer), a sink, and lots of drawers. You will find the towels under the sink. On the upper right side of the mirrors, is a plug for 220v (French electrical) and 110v accommodating all American appliances. Above the door you will notice a little radiator you can turn on when you use the bathroom. The toilet is in a separate room next to the bathroom..

The large living room has a new leather sleeping couch (sleeps two), some armchairs and a table. It has French doors opening to a very nice balcony where you can put the plastic table out and the chairs: enjoy the afternoon sun sipping your tea or coffee. You will notice that the furnishings are not exactly French: my parents lived for 20 years overseas and spent lots of time in Asia where they brought back antiques. Thank you for using extra care with these family heirlooms.

The kitchen is not large, but standard size for Paris! It has a refrigerator with freezer on top, a dishwasher and washing machine/dryer (to use only with my express permission), a sink, a little oven and 2 gas burners and a big pantry. You will also find a coffee maker and a toaster. The kitchen table will accommodate about 3 people. The large window makes it bright and enjoyable to do dishes!

Being a parent of young children (3, including twins) I have available a stroller and portable crib/playpen and a booster seat. Make sure to tell me at booking time if you will need those items.

Please note that the apartment is smoke and pet free. Smoking inside the residence is strictly prohibited. Please be aware that the city of Paris has a "quiet hours" ordinance which goes into effect at 10:00 p.m. each night. Thank you for respecting these rules and making it a pleasant environment for all.

Please remember that I, or my Manager in Paris, are always available to answer your concerns/questions and make your accommodations as comfortable than enjoyable. Thank you for choosing us for your unforgettable Paris vacations and go enjoy this glorious city!

2004 Prices:
Ranging from $160 to $300/night. Prices vary according to the season, length of stay and number of occupants.
