The weather is continental: a great experience of the four seasons, topographically hilly, very plush vegetation with lots of forests (ideal for mushrooms, snails, fishing and hunting), lakes for swimming…
The Town: St. Bérain Sur Dheune is a little village of about 700 inhabitants along the Dheune river. (You can even rent a barge and dock there!) It has a bakery, a convenience store, a post office, three bars, a restaurant, a church and a school. Two war memorials testify to its heavy involvement in WW1 and WWII. The residents are welcoming and slow paced.
The Manor: Originally built in 1711, two additional wings were then added in 1863. The manor is located right on Main Street. It features a wrought iron gate which opens into a large courtyard with gardens, a covered patio, centuries-old trees, a small pond and the garages. The gardens are ideal for outside dining under the trees, especially during the summer months. The manor house has two stories, a finished attic, and a sizeable cellar.
Main Floor: from the street you enter into the foyer. On your right you will find the kitchen/dining room furnished with a large wooden table and antique hutch. To the left of the foyer is the living with a couch (pull-out sleeper), television, antique chairs and armoire.
The first floor: from the stairs, you will find the first of two bedrooms, both equipped with two twin beds (convertible into a king size) a large armoire and a desk.
Access to the master suite is through the "boudoir" (sitting area), with bookshelves, a desk and armchairs. The master suite is a large room with twin beds (convertible into a King size bed), an armoire, a desk and chair, television and two night stands. On the other side of the room, you access the bathroom and private kitchenette. The bathroom has a tub/shower, a sink and a toilet. The kitchenette features a gas oven, fridge and a sink. From the hallway between the bath and kitchen you have a door leading to the courtyard. The Manor sleeps four ideally, but it can accommodate up to six.
